As usual there are several proposed changes to the GL Code which we will vote on in September at GL meeting.You Master, SW and JW will vote on behalf of the Lodge and will represent your Lodge's position on the various issues (although they are free to vote their own consciences). Details of the proposed Code changes can be found on the GL web site - http://www.grandlodge-NC.org/main.htm

The two proposition discussed in Lodge at the most recent Stated meeting were: Group 4 Eleminate the need for two Schools of Instruction each year. It was the consensus of your Lodge that this is NOT a good idea. Schools of Instruction help keep Lodge work at an acceptable level and also serve as a good source of contact and fellowship within our District. We could find no good cause to support this change.

Group 5 Would allow Lodges to change their by-laws to require disclosure of reasons for casting black cubes (1 or 2). This is a complex change to the long standing voting practices of our Fraternity. It would essentially require a person casting a black cube to stand and give his reason for doing so and putting that reason before the Lodge for an up or down vote. In simple terms, this eliminates the "secret ballot" which has been a land mark of our Fraternity for hundreds of years. Again, the consensus of your Lodge is that this is NOT in the best interests of our Fraternity
