Trestle Board for April 2008

Greetings from the Master - Gilbert Bailey
April is almost over and what a month it was. We were invited over to Temple #676 to assist in putting on the first and second sections of the Master Mason's degree. We had a great turnout from our membership and a fantastic job was done by all! We then attended the school of instruction (SOI) and completed our assignment by putting on the first section of the master mason's degree. We received great feedback on our degree work during the SOI. We had 13 members in attendance the night of our work. Needless to say that was the highest attendance I have seen from our lodge during a SOI while I have been a member and I have been to every SOI since I have joined. Speaking of attendance we had 20 people the night of our stated in April, what a turnout! I want to thank all of those members that continue to turn out and support our events!

The final accounting has been completed for the roof project. Due to your generous donations we exceeded our goal by over $1,800.00. We will be sending the overage to the Oxford Children's home for use with the Joe Walters music scholarship that was set up by members of your lodge. We selected this scholarship because one anonymous donor sent in $2,000.00 and designated that any excess money not needed be sent to this fund. I can't say thank you enough to those that sent in contributions for the roof. Fund.

Greetings from the Senior Warden - Mike Davis
The weather is changing as we approach summer and all of us want to
spend more time outside. Right? I don't mean cutting the grass, washing the dog, stuff like that. I am talking about our 32nd Masonic District Picnic at Matthews Masonic Lodge on Saturday, May 10th. We have a bonanza of activities planned for anyone and everyone who wants to participate. FREE FOOD, DRINKS, AND ICE CREAM FOR EVERYONE! Games
and balloons for the kids, horseshoes and tug-a-war for the adult kids, music by our DJ in the Pavilion in case you want to "cut a rug", and great fellowship among Masons and non-Masons alike. Join us on Saturday, May 10th, between 11:00AM and 2:30PM. You never know, you
could meet the best friend you will ever have. We are going to start collecting school supplies for the children at our Masonic Home for Children at Oxford (MHCO) again this year. The children need basic items like paper, pencils, pens, spiral notebooks, book bags, backpacks, etc. All donations make a real difference and the kids appreciate it so much. Bring your supplies by the Lodge or give us a call and we will arrange a pick up. Thank you for all that you do for others, you can truly make a difference.

Greetings from the Junior Warden - Ted Hill
Brothers, April was a great month full of exciting things in our Lodge. I truly wish each of you could have been with us to enjoy the great fun and fellowship we experienced. We handled a lot of business and did some very positive things (see Master and Sr. Warden’s comments) and May is shaping up to be another terrific month with the District Picnic and a variety of plans (see schedule below to energize the Lodge in all aspects.

Greetings from the Secretary - Russ Elliott

Please accept our apologies for the name confusion on the last Trestleboard. It was NOT the fault of your Lodge, but rather an error by the printer in sorting for zip codes. We have changed printers!

Brothers I need to bring up an important matter. If you have not paid your 2007 dues and have a letter removing you from the Craft, then you need to realize that you give up all Masonic rights and privileges (including the right to a Masonic Funeral). This loving service will mean a great deal to your grieving family and to the Brother who come to pay their last respects. If you are having financial problems, just let us know and we’ll gladly consider remitting your dues. But we do need to know (confidentially) so we can act responsibly. A phone call or letter to me will usually get the job done. If you are not having financial problems, but just decided to stop paying dues….I urge you to reconsider.
